the Artist Mayte was born and raised in the small northern city of Soria, Spain. Her artistic pursuit began in Barcelona at the St. Jorge University of Fine Arts and eventually led her to San Fernando University in Madrid where she completed her degree with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Mayte taught art at a local high school in Madrid for two years before moving to the United States in 1979. In the US, Mayte expanded her creative arsenal and completed additional courses in ceramics and silkscreening in Daytona Beach, FL and the University of Tennessee- Chattanooga, respectively. In 1987, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she worked as a designer and supervisor for an art company for twelve years. Since 2000, Mayte has worked as a freelance artist, improving and expanding upon the textured landscapes for which she is known. |
